Thumb Chucks Want to be the new yo-yo and that’s just not going to happen

I Obtained both an email pitch along with physical delivery of Thumb Chucks yesterday. What is Thumb Chucks, you inquire? It is a toy that’s essentially two rubber light-up balls attached by a thick ribbon. See here:

The idea is that you do tricks with these balls, like the Person over. Apparently a rosary inspired it that Greek kids carry around? I read the press materials that followed the Thumb Chucks once, and that was what it said. Perhaps I hallucinated it? But I’m fairly sure.

It is clear that Thumb Chucks wants to be the yo-yo that is next, or Devil Sticks, or Hacky Sack. It’s economical, too, at $9.99. But I can’t envision it becoming a viral feeling just like any of these things. When I held it in my hands, my very first thought was,”I don’t get it” I do not get it, although I realize I am not a child on my hands to learn a new skill with an infinite quantity of time. This would be cool for golf children? Club children like strobe lights, which this appears to be a natural match.

I will say, though, our video crew here at The Verge occurs To love yo-yos. I asked out movement images director, William Joel, for his ideas, and he had this to say:”It is not a yo-yo, it is not a nunchaku. It fits in my palms, and I am not a kid. But they’re more fun to throw around.”

So there you have it: Thumb Chucks. Will they be the following yo-yo? Likely not, but children are unpredictable and highly vulnerable To advertising we’ve got a hit on our hands.
