Snap now announced Spectacles 3, a redesigned version of its reality sunglasses with a sleek new design and an HD camera that was added to create depth perception. The glasses, which the firm has positioned as a release, represent the most up-to-date attempt of Snap to construct a new computing platform. I have abandoned my 2 generations of Spectacles in preceding years in a few weeks, primarily for that reason: taking snaps Spectacles, moving them to my telephone, and only then being able to edit and then discuss them felt like a lot of effort for too little reward. Introducing a fresh version of Spectacles that’s almost twice as costly without addressing that flaw in the user experience looks on the outside, like a missed opportunity.
